50th anniversary of 'A Girl Named Sooner' in Vevay on June 21

Movie filmed in Vevay a half-century ago

(VEVAY, Ind.) – A movie filmed 50 years ago in Switzerland County will be celebrated with a special event on June 21.
In 1974, a movie called 'A Girl Named Sooner' was filmed in the area and it premiered on NBC on June 18, 1975.
To commemorate the anniversary, the movie will be played at the Historic Hoosier Theater at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.
Susan Deer played the young girl named Sooner in the movie and she will be coming to Vevay for the celebration as well
A reception will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Vevay Swiss Inn and a Q&A session with Susan and other local actors from the movie will be at 6 PM at the Hoosier Theater.
Tickets for both showings and separate tickets for the reception are available at the Switzerland County Visitors Center between 10-4 on weekdays or call (812) 427-3237 to reserve yours.
