1 hospitalized, 2 pets killed in Aurora fire

(AURORA, Ind.) – A woman was hospitalized and two pets were killed in a house fire in Aurora on Tuesday night.
The fire started around 6:30 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Conwell Street.
“We immediately started fire suppression on the lower level of the home, but the fire spread intensely and made it to the first floor and then into the attic,” Aurora Fire Chief Jeff Lane said.
It led to a large firefighter presence as at least 8 surrounding fire departments responded to the incident.
Lane confirmed that the woman living there was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
He said one of the deceased pets was a dog while the other pet has not yet been identified.
“Our initial investigation is that a candle got knocked over and that is what started the fire,” Lane added.
The fire is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Aurora was assisted on scene by Dillsboro, Greendale, Hogan Township, Milan, Manchester, Lawrenceburg and Rising Sun fire departments.

(AURORA, Ind.) - Multiple fire departments are on the scene of a house fire in Aurora Tuesday night.
It broke out around 6:30 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Conwell Street.
We have not yet confirmed if there are any injuries but will provide an update when more information becomes available.
The incident has prompted a large response with fire departments coming as far away as Milan and Rising Sun.
Other fire departments on scene include Aurora, Greendale, Dillsboro, Manchester, Lawrenceburg, and Hogan Township.
There are also multiple EMS units that have responded.
