Area police departments make birthday surprise visits

(GREENDALE, Ind.) – Police officers helped deliver some joy to two young people celebrating birthdays this weekend. 

On Saturday, several Greendale police officers showed up at a birthday party to surprise a 6-year-old boy.

“Being able to put a smile on a child’s face is just one of the many rewarding opportunities we are blessed to experience as police officers in our wonderful community,” the Greendale Police Department stated. 

Meanwhile, there was another child that was celebrating their birthday in North Vernon on Saturday.

North Vernon police officers, North Vernon firefighters and Jennings County deputies all took time to make it an extra special party for the child.  

“Moments like these remind us what serving our community is truly about. Building relationships, creating positive memories, and leaving a lasting impression on the next generation,” stated the North Vernon Police Department. 

North Vernon Police added that if you have a youngster celebrating a birthday, don’t hesitate to reach out to them or another local first responder agency. 

“While emergency calls will always come first, we'll do our best to stop by and help make their day extra special,” they added.
