(ORANGE BEACH, ALA.) – The old Lawrenceburg riverboat will be put to rest off the shores of Alabama this week.
The Argosy VI will be sunk and will become part of the largest artificial reef system in the United States.
It was in Lawrenceburg from 1998 to 2009 and was replaced by a larger boat that is now home to Hollywood Casino.
The vessel is four levels tall and will settle at a depth of 122 feet.
“More than 400 reef sites already exist in the zone, including the 271-foot LuLu and the 250-foot New Venture. Both are top fishing and diving destinations within 7.5 miles of where the Argosy VI will be placed,” officials said.
