Batesville High School hosts inaugural marching band competition

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Nine high school bands from three different states competed in the inaugural Batesville Marching Band Invitational on Saturday.

The event brought together marching bands from near and far to battle it out on the Batesville High School football field.

“We have some really great facilities here and as our program continues to grow, this was a natural progression for us to host a competition and bring in some wonderful groups to perform,” said Batesville High School Band Director Cameron Everage,

The bands involved were Indian Hills, Perry Meridian, Simon Kenton High School, Rising Sun, East Central, South Dearborn, Madison, Shawe-Memorial and Greensburg Decatur County.

Altogether, the competition brought close to 600 students on to Batesville’s campus.

The Batesville marching band did not compete, however gave an exhibition performance at the end. Everage said that it was a great opportunity to showcase their talent.

“We have an incredible group of kids this year that have been working so hard. They are passionate about what they do and put in hours and hours to make our vision for our show come to life,” Everage said.

Everage added that he appreciates those who helped organize the competition.
