Batesville Intermediate principal to leave for new role

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville Intermediate School Principal Dana Cassidy will leave the role at the end of 2026.

Cassidy informed the school district that she will accept a leadership position with a nonprofit organization. 

“In her message to staff and school families, she shared that serving at BIS was one of her greatest joys, and she is grateful that this new opportunity will still allow her to serve local families—just in a different capacity,” the school corporation stated. 

Cassidy has more than three decades of experience in elementary education and served as the BIS principal for more than 8 years. 

In a letter to parents and students earlier this year, she said her goal has always been to help children develop a lifelong love of curiosity and learning. 

“While academic excellence and high expectations are essential, I believe our most important work is helping students become kind, respectful, compassionate people who make a positive difference in the lives of others,” the letter stated. 

Batesville Schools added that a search to name a new BIS principal will begin in the near future.
