Batesville Parks: Report our hacked Facebook page

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Batesville Parks Department is asking for the community’s help after their Facebook page was hacked. 

The page had previously provided important updates on Liberty Park as well as other recreational opportunities in the city. 

This past weekend, it was hacked by an unknown person and is now posting unrelated content. Do not engage or share that content. 

Parks Supervisor Mike Baumer is hoping to regain access to the account. He has created a temporary account which you can access by clicking here. 

“The timing is very unfortunate because Batesville Parks is working on a new 5-year master plan and using Facebook as a great way to get citizens to take the short survey and letting the parks know what citizens would like to see in the parks the next 5 years,” Baumer said. 

Baumer is asking people to help by reporting the issue to Facebook. Here’s how:

1. Go to the Batesville Parks Facebook page that was hacked.

2. Go to the homepage and one of the posts.

3. Tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the post.

4. Select Report Post.

5. Select Scam, fraud, or false information.

6. Select Fraud or Scam

7. Click Submit.

Here is some Batesville Parks updates in the meantime:

• A volunteer workday at Brum Woods at 8 a.m. on Saturday July 18. Volunteers are asked to meet at the gravel parking lot near the shed.  

• An area near the playground at Liberty Park will soon be home to new outdoor exercise equipment thanks to donations and grants. A concrete slab will soon be poured, and the new equipment is on the way. 

• If you see an orange wood easel with Batesville Parks 5-year master plan information, please take the time to scan the QR code and take the survey. If you don't have time, then grab a business card with the QR code and take it when time allows. 

“When finished, pass the card on to others to take the survey. This is a great way to know what the citizens like, don't like, want to see improved or added to the parks system.  The link is below,” Baumer added.
