Batesville Police investigating spike in vehicle break-ins

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Residents in Batesville and nearby communities are being warned about a recent increase in vehicle break-ins. 

Batesville Police have received an increase in reports over the past week and are investigating numerous cases throughout the city. 

“These individuals are taking articles of value from vehicles that have been left unlocked,” the department said.

Residents are encouraged to check security cameras and exterior lights to ensure they are working properly.

You should also call 9-1-1 immediately if you see a crime occurring or see something suspicious.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to lock their doors and remove any valuables including cash, wallets, purses, electronics, backpacks or firearms.
