Batesville student's artwork being displayed on downtown building

Part of the BCEF Art on Main project

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville seventh grader has her artwork on display in downtown Batesville.

Isabella Shook created the winning submission for the third mural in the Batesville Community Education Foundation’s (BCEF) 2024-25 Art on Main student art program.

“Isabella’s design reflects, in great intricacy, all the things she sees as making Indiana unique,” explained BMS art teacher Lynne DiMuzio. “This year’s theme of ‘It's an Indiana Thing’ is illustrated in a collage of iconic Indiana people, activities we love, our state bird, our favorite foods, agriculture, and sports.  Isabella is a perfectionist, and her artwork reflects that.”

The mural was installed by Rowland Graphics and is located on a building owned by Nick Maple. It is located at the intersection of George and Main streets.

BCEF’s Art on Main program highlights artwork from students from the four Batesville Community School Corporation schools on a rotating basis.

It will be on display until near the end of the school year when artwork from Batesville High School will be installed for the summer.
