Batesville teen continues roadside flower and plant business

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) — A Batesville teenager is continuing her annual Mother’s Day tradition this weekend.

18-year-old Leanne Ludwig has a roadside business called ‘Leanne’s Greenhouse’ which is located at the intersection of State Road 129 and Adams Church Road.

She started last year by offering hanging baskets, 6-inch mixed pots and shadow baskets.

“I've actually doubled in size this year compared to last year and it has been quite the adventure,” Ludwig told The 812.

She now also offers germanium baskets, petunias, dahlias and several other flower selections.

One unique addition this year is vegetable plants as Ludwig is also selling tomato, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and different herbs.

The hours of operation are:

Friday: 1-6  p.m.

Saturday: 9-5 p.m.

Sunday: 10-4 p.m.

Ludwig is a 2025 Batesville graduate who created the roadside stand as she continues to pursue her long-term plans.

Her goal is to open a local garden center that also serves as an agritourism and educational hub.

“I really want to do this in our local community and advocate for farmers, while also educating people about agriculture and how they can bring it into their own life,” she said.
