Brookville Police find meth, pot during traffic stop

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Two people are facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Brookville on Tuesday night.
Police became aware of a possible domestic dispute that was occurring in a pickup truck around 11 p.m.
A Brookville police officer located the pickup in the area of Webber Lane and First Street and initiated a traffic stop.
It led to a search of the vehicle where investigators say they found approximately 49 grams of methamphetamine and 37 grams of marijuana.
52-year-old Matthew Hamilton, of Brookville, was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
40-year-old Rachel Potter, of Brookville, was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
Franklin County Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp said both defendants entered not guilty pleas during their initial hearings. They both remain behind bars pending trial.
Huerkamp added that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
