Canaan Community Academy to break ground on new playgrounds

(CANAAN, Ind.) – Canaan Community Academy will hold a groundbreaking to celebrate the construction of four new innovative playgrounds. 

The new playgrounds will serve students across all grade levels and will feature inclusive equipment, sensory‑rich elements, and areas intentionally designed for movement, exploration, and imaginative play.

School officials say the project reflects CCA’s long‑standing vision of creating joyful, safe, and engaging outdoor environments for every learner.

“This project represents our belief that learning is not confined to the 4 walls of a classroom, play is essential to learning,” said Chief Administrative Officer Rhonda Pennington. “We are grateful for the community support that makes this possible and excited to create spaces that will benefit students for years to come.”

The groundbreaking will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 at the school. 

Families, community partners, donors, and local leaders are invited to attend the ceremony. The event will include remarks from school leadership, student participation, and a ceremonial “first dig” to mark the beginning of construction.

The public is encouraged to join CCA in celebrating this milestone moment for the school and the broader Canaan community.
