(GREENDALE, Ind.) – A running team coached by a St. Lawrence Catholic School teacher made its debut in a big way on Saturday.
Bryan Wagner has finished in the top 15 at the Flying Pig in Cincinnati and recently qualified and ran in the Boston Marathon.
He’s started a program called Coach Wagner Running Elite where he trains middle school and high school athletes.
The team competed in Greendale Fourth of July 5K on Saturday and left their mark at the top of the leaderboard.
Lawrenceburg High School student Rylynn Head was the overall male champion.
Other male teammates included Lawrenceburg’s Coleman Hughes who finished third overall and South Dearborn’s Tegan Burk who placed fifth.
On the girl’s side, East Central student Lilly Gambrel was the overall female champion.
Her teammate, Faith Harmeyer, was right behind her to place third overall.

Coach Wagner also participated in the race and finished second overall in the men’s division.
“A lot of hardware came home today, but what impressed me most was the effort, teamwork, and excitement this group brought to the start line. This is just the beginning of our 5K season, and the future is bright,” Wagner said.
