(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) and Greensburg Community Schools (GCS) partner to strengthen health and wellness across the school community—an initiative that reflects the shared values of service, education, and long-term impact. Together, the two organizations are ensuring that students, teachers, administrators, and staff have access to preventive care and wellness resources that help everyone thrive.
Through this collaboration, DCMH provides on-site health screenings, wellness education, and preventive services—meeting people where they are and making care more accessible than ever. The initiative supports student health and readiness to learn, as well as the well-being of those who guide, teach, and lead them every day.
“By Decatur County Memorial Hospital bringing health services directly to our campuses, we've seen a significant improvement in student and staff well-being,” said Tom Hunter, Superintendent of Greensburg Community Schools. “This proactive approach fosters a culture of wellness that benefits everyone—from our classrooms to our homes.”
"This partnership reflects Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s deep commitment to support those who shape the future of our community,” said Rex McKinney, President/CEO of DCMH.
GCS continues to set a strong example in academic excellence and student opportunity, with a 98% graduation rate and a 98% IREAD-3 pass rate at Greensburg Elementary—ranking ninth in the state. The district offers more than 43 dual credit courses and has been recognized as a Distinguished District by Project Lead The Way, reflecting a deep commitment to preparing students for success and strengthening the future of Decatur County.
DCMH encourages local businesses, civic organizations, and community groups—especially those who have not yet explored a workplace wellness partnership—to consider how proactive healthcare can support their team. These programs can be tailored to fit the needs of each organization and may include wellness visits, educational resources, screenings, and more.
By investing in the health of employees and members, organizations can see improved morale, reduced long-term healthcare costs, and a deeper connection to the community. DCMH welcomes local organizations to create a lasting impact—supporting the health of their teams helps strengthen the health of the entire community.
“DCMH is continuing to look for new ways to bring care and connection where it’s needed most,” said McKinney. “Together, we can support the health of those who support our community—and build a stronger, healthier Decatur County for generations to come.”
