Dearborn Co. man will return as German Football League coach

(HIDDEN VALLEY, Ind.) – A Hidden Valley resident has agreed to return as head coach for the Dresden Monarchs.
Greg Seamon has been the head coach for the past three years for Dresden, which is one of 15 teams in the German Football League (GFL) that plays American-style football.
The 71-year-old just led Dresden to the GFL championship last month with a 27-19 win over Potsdam.
Seamon says he loves the club, the players, and also loves spending half the year in Germany’s 12th biggest city.
“I never thought about whether I wanted to do it for one year, three years, or four years. I just look at it year by year and ask myself: Is this something I really want to do? And yes, it is! I’m just as excited as I was the first year,” Seamon said.
Before going to Germany, Seamon had served as the Tight Ends coach for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns.
He also spent several years as a scout for the Cincinnati Bengals as well as a coach at various college programs.
Greg is currently in the United States but remains in contact with the team by discussing training plans, scouting and contacting players.
“Now that we are the defending champions, we have to raise our standards even higher. But we also need to continue developing our young players, and we need to become more consistent overall. I will do my best so that we can play our best football again at the end of the season,” Seamon said.
The GFL season begins in April and the championship is played in October.
