Dearborn Foundation awarded for philanthropic efforts

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF) is being recognized for its philanthropic efforts.

It has been reaccredited with the highest standard for philanthropic excellence through the Community Foundations National Standards.

DCF was first accredited in 2009 and continues to offer a wide range of charitable services that help those in need, support victims of abuse or violence, impact the environment, build trails and recreational projects, give scholarships and much more.

“Some say it’s easier to create wealth than to give money away wisely,” said DCF executive director Fred McCarter. “There’s some truth in that. Grant-making is a lot like investing … we need to assess risks, weigh potential gains, diversify assets, monitor performance and operate fairly. When you see the National Standards Seal, you can be assured that we’re committed to meeting the highest standards for grantmaking as well.”

The recognition is earned by community foundations who document  their policies for donor services, investments, grantmaking and administration.
