Decatur Co. deputy retires after 20-year distinguished career

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Decatur County deputy is retiring after more than 20 years of service to the community. 


The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Chris Hellmich has left a distinguished law enforcement career that has exemplified professionalism, integrity, and dedication. 


Hellmich has been known for his attention to detail, effective communication skills, and his ability to work collaboratively with fellow officers, partner agencies, and the citizens he served.


“Deputy Hellmich’s commitment to public safety and his positive interactions within the community have left a lasting impression. His contributions have played a vital role in supporting the mission of the department and enhancing the quality of service provided to the public,” said Sheriff Bill Meyerrose. 


He added, “Deputy Hellmich’s career reflects the very best of law enforcement,” said Sheriff Meyerrose. “His dedication, reliability, and professionalism have made a meaningful difference in our department and in the community. He will be greatly missed.”
