Decatur Co. native takes part in 250th U.S. Navy Birthday Ball

ree

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Two Decatur County natives had a unique experience at a military celebration this past weekend.

Navy sailor Kaden Schroeder and his fiance, Kaylee Ogden, attended the 250th U.S. Navy Birthday Ball in Arlington, Virginia.

A few weeks ago, the couple found out that Schroeder would be participating in the cutting of the traditional cake during the ceremony.

He was invited to do the cake-cutting because he was the youngest sailor in attendance.

Schroeder cut the cake alongside Rear Admiral Gregory N. Todd on Saturday night.

Kaden and Kaylee also sat at a guarded table in front of the ball room, and had the opportunity to meet several high-ranking officials including the Under Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations, and the President of The Navy League.

The National Capital Region 250th Navy Birthday Ball was attended by sailors, veterans, military families, and industry leaders.
