(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is receiving new tools that can save lives.
The Decatur County Health Department is providing Stop the Bleed Kits that will be placed in each deputy’s vehicle.
In the event of traumatic injuries, the Stop the Bleed kits are designed for early intervention until medical professionals arrive.
Trauma experts say a person can bleed to death in less than five minutes and knowing how to apply pressure, pack a wound, or use a tourniquet can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Decatur County Chief Deputy Eric Blodgett, Public Health Nurses Toni Kellems, Amanda Rich and Leslie Straight, Sheriff Bill Meyerrose and CIT Deputy Tiffani McFarland are pictured above.
