Decatur County Sheriff warns of phone scams

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a phone scam. 

Residents have been receiving fake calls from scammers posing as Detective Simms and Sgt. Harry Peterson. 

The scam claims the resident missed jury duty and there is an arrest warrant.

“This is not how we conduct business and would never ask you to pay us money over the phone to take care of a warrant,” said Sheriff Bill Meyerrose.
