Disability & Autism Services of Indiana make donation to Greensburg special needs summer camp

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Disability & Autism Services of Indiana (DASI) is giving back to Greensburg’s Camp Rainbow summer program. 

DASI was founded in 2008 with the mission to provide children with Autism a strong foundation for positive growth and development. 

They held their annual Walk of Cause in April and accomplished their goal of walking 10 million steps. 

“Most of us take steps daily - whether while working, playing with our kids or during exercise - and what an awesome way to reward you for those steps by Walking for a Cause!  And, if others do not have frequent steps built into their day, then we hope that this is an incentive to do so,” said DASI office manager Kyra Meyer. 

This year, they pledged to donate to Camp Rainbow for every 2.5 million steps. 

DASI executive director Libby Caswell and office manager Kyra Meyer stopped by the camp on Tuesday to make a $2,000 donation. 

Camp Rainbow is a three-week summer program for children ages 6-17 and is organized through the Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department.

The camp is led by director Stacie Reisman and this year there are seven counselors and 20 students participating in various activities. 

They plan to use the DASI donation to fund new equipment, crafts and field trips. The donation will also bring programs to the camp. Past events students have enjoyed include magic shows and horse visits.

DASI Kids is currently seeking new team members to work with children on the Autism Spectrum.
