(RIDGEWAY, SC.) – A Decatur County native will be honored by the State of South Carolina this coming fall.
44-year-old George Thomas Yorn lived in Greensburg for the majority of his life but had moved to Ridgeway, South Carolina in 2023.
Yorn lost his life after he was stabbed to death during a domestic dispute in December of 2024.
Police arrested his girlfriend, Tammi Neal, and she was charged with murder.
Yorn’s family recently received a letter from the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General.
“The Attorney General will be recognizing Mr. Yorn and the other 2024 victims of domestic violence homicide,” the letter read.
Yorn’s family has been invited to a Silent Witness ceremony and has been asked to carry a wooden silhouette in his honor on October 7
Prior to his passing, Yorn had recently found a passion for carpentry and had flourished with the craft.
“His heart was full of love and he worked tirelessly to be a better father, son, brother, and friend. He was always the first to offer help, the first to show up, no matter the task. His generosity, kindness, and infectious smile left a mark on everyone he encountered,” his obituary read.
