(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – An East Central graduate will have her artwork on display at the Indiana Statehouse this holiday season.
Leah Kubitz is currently enrolled in the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP Fine Arts Program.
Indiana First Lady Maureen Braun is decorating the Statehouse Christmas tree with 6-inch ornaments that represent different Indiana counties.
The initiative is in conjunction with the Hoosier Hope Foundation and the tree is a celebration of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Indiana.
Kubitz was tasked with designing an ornament to represent Dearborn County.
“Leah was the perfect person for this job, because not only is she a creative and talented member of our community, she was featured in a promotional letter about the Imagination Library in Dearborn County when she was just 3 years old,” said Laura Priebe who is the administrator of the Imagination Library of Dearborn County.
Leah’s design features Dearborn County’s townships stitched together like Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors.”
She also highlighted the Ohio River, the farmland and Perfect North Slopes.
“I loved working on this project, because I had complete artistic freedom,” Leah said.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income.
