East Central, Lawrenceburg to kick off Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown series

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Two local rivals will be the center of focus across the Tri-State this Friday. 

East Central will visit Lawrenceburg to not only kick off the football season, but to also kick off the 28th year of the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown. 

The Trojans are hoping for another trip to Lucas Oil Stadium  after finishing 8-4 and winning the sectional in their first year competing at the 5A level last year. 

The Tigers are ready for another big season after finishing 10-2 last year. They have average nearly 11 victories a year since 2019. 

“A packed and raucous crowd is expected with the Showdown Kickoff, taking place in the unique setting of Lawrenceburg’s stadium, the Pit,” Tom Gamble said. 

 East Central leads the overall series, 33-15, and the Trojans have won the last 29 meetings since the Tigers won in 1992.

There will also be a pep rally for Tiger fans at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. It will be held at the Skyline Chili in Lawrenceburg.
