EC FFA competes at state horticulture event

(WEST LAFAYETTE) – The East Central FFA chapter competed at the Indiana 4-H/FFA State Horticulture Career Development Event at Purdue University last weekend.
East Central was among 52 high schools and 13 middle schools who competed at the event.
The FFA members completed a plant identification practicum where they identified ornamental trees and shrubs, flowering and indoor plants, and fruits and vegetables. They also completed a general knowledge exam and a plant quality grading exam where they ranked specimens from best to worst.
East Central sent two high school teams and two middle school teams.
The top high school team placed 9th out of 52 teams while the other placed 25th.
The top middle school team placed 7th out of 13 teams and the other junior team placed 9th.
The East Central high school FFA members included Tyler Stenger, Parker Simpson, Noah Lewis, Ashtyn Galey, Reagan Whitehead, Cambryn Botts, Ella Lostutter and Leah Weber.
The middle school FFA members were Hudson Walter, Chase Leruck, Ben Franz, Nate Mckenzie, Annabelle Edmonds, Marisol Rodriguez, Maci Newman, Aubrey Mccarty
