Dedicated to helping others in the community

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Anthony Roell has earned the nomination of FCN First Responder Spotlight.
Roell joined the St. Paul Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in 2019. The commitment to community was instilled in Anthony through his grandfather who served in the Army.
After receiving his FireFighter 1 Certificate, he decided to leave his former job to choose a life of service.
In 2022, Roell received St. Paul Fire Department’s outstanding achievement award. The more he learned, the more knowledge he sought. He enrolled in EMT classes at Letts Volunteer Fire Department and became NREMT in 2022.
Roell continued to excel and by December 2023, he had earned both the most improved and EMT of the year honors through the Decatur County EMS.
He is currently employed full-time with Letts Fire, part-time with Decatur County EMS, and volunteers with St. Paul Fire Department serving Franklin, Decatur, and Shelby Counties.
Anthony also recently graduated from St. Francis where he earned his National Registered Paramedic certification.
His long term goal is to gain critical care skills and experience to become a flight paramedic.
Roell is married to Brittany, who is a registered nurse at South Decatur Elementary School as well as part-time at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Together, they are raising three children who are under the age of 6.
