FEMA to meet with those impacted by flood, storms in Metamora, Laurel

(LAUREL, Ind.) – FEMA officials will be in the area to meet with those affected by the flooding and storms over the next few days. 

A Mobile Registration Intake Center will be open at the Metamora Church of God on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29. 

Another intake center will be open at the Laurel Library on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1. 

Each location will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and impacted residents can go to either location. 

“Representatives at these centers will provide in-person assistance, answer questions and help homeowners and renters apply for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program,” FEMA officials said. 

Residents are asked to file an insurance claim first. Individuals with homeowners, renters or flood insurance should file a claim before applying for FEMA assistance. 

Homeowners and renters who sustained uninsured damage or losses due to the storms and flooding may now apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Individuals who have already applied for State Disaster Relief Funds must also submit an application for FEMA disaster assistance to be considered for federal support.
