Police, firefighters rescue occupants of car stranded in flood

(GAYNORSVILLE, Ind.) – First responders helped save the occupants of a vehicle that had got stranded on a flooded roadway in Decatur County on Wednesday.
The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. around South County Road 60 West in the Gaynorsville area.
Greensburg police officers were first on the scene and helped get all occupants out of the vehicle.
There were no injuries reported.
Other agencies involved in the rescue included Letts Volunteer Fire Department, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Decatur County EMS, Greensburg Police Department, and the Marion Township Fire Department.
“This incident serves as an important reminder of the dangers posed by flooded roadways. Just a small amount of moving water can carry away a vehicle, and roadway conditions beneath floodwaters are often impossible to assess,” the Letts Fire Department stated.
They added, “Drivers should never attempt to cross flooded roads or drive through standing water.
