(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A former Decatur County Commissioner has been arrested on charges of forgery, theft and official misconduct.
66-year-old Mark Koors allegedly submitted a fraudulent invoice following an online auction where he placed a bid for machinery for the Decatur County Highway Department.
Koors allegedly paid $8,305 for the machinery but created an invoice that charged the county for $19,525.
The auction company eventually provided an accurate invoice and Koors paid the difference to the county, according to court documents.
Indiana State Police investigators believe Koors created an invoice that charged the county for substantially more than his auction bid.
An attorney for the Decatur County Commissioners released a statement following the charges.
In part, it reads, “Decatur County dutifully cooperated with the investigation by the Indiana State Police, and will make no further comment during the pendency of this matter.”
