Friendship Bank Spotlight: Vevay Blooms and Co.

(VEVAY, Ind.) – An idea between two best friends has blossomed into a business in downtown Vevay.

Amy Hoskins has always had a dream of opening a flower shop and had spent several years working for Flowers and Gifts of Love in Dillsboro as well as Edelweiss Floral in Vevay. 

She and her best friend, Kathleen Bolton had discussed the possibility of opening a flower shop last year and together they quickly made that a reality.

Amy and Kathleen opened Vevay Blooms and Co. in January and within two months found a permanent location at 117 West Main Street in the heart of Vevay. 

Vevay Blooms specializes in flowers and gifts for every occasion including birthdays, celebrations, holidays and funerals. 

They have also expanded their products by now offering gifts that are produced by local vendors such as Pappy’s Crafts, Momma Jill’s Crafts and the Lamp Lady.

Vevay Blooms has the motto of ‘Nurture Your Community’ and that encompasses their mission of providing high-quality customer service and giving back to the community. 

Serving the community is something they’re honored to do in their hometown. 

They’re overwhelmed and humbled by the support and say they have experienced how great the area is within their first year of business. 

That community support even extends to Lynnie’s Nail Salon which is located next door. They describe the salon owners, Skyla and Emily, as top-notch neighbors. 

Vevay Blooms will have a unique initiative this Friday when they will host “9 to 5 Day” (9/25) in honor of Dolly Parton. 

The floral shop will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Community Foundation of Switzerland County for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“Every bouquet purchased can help us give back to our community and support the gift of books and imagination for local children,” Amy said. 

Vevay Blooms also has  plans of eventually opening up a cafe and small bakery in their shop as well in the near future.
