(FRIENDSHIP, Ind.) – The Friendship Fire Department is reminding homeowners to clean their chimneys following an incident today.
The department responded to the 5000 block of State Road 62 for a report of a house fire around 2 p.m. Sunday.
“The fire in the stove was removed, the flue checked and opened up. The liner in the chimney had failed and blocked the flue causing the back-up,” firefighters mentioned.
Friendship firefighters removed the stove and encouraged the homeowner to get the chimney repaired.
“The stove was removed from service, and the owner was advised to have the chimney repaired prior to use. Keep those chimneys clean and serviced,” the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department added.
