(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A Greendale Middle School student was the first to cross the finish line at the Whiskey City 5K on Saturday.
12-year-old Liam Reade won the race by nearly 30 seconds over the second place finisher.
Liam was a last-minute entrant into the race after the extreme heat cancelled his school’s cross country races.
The top female finisher of the race was 39-year-old Leslie Karle, of Cincinnati.
Proceeds from the Whiskey City 5K benefit the Lawrenceburg Lions Club, and there were 76 competitors ranging from age 7 to 83 who took the course through downtown Lawrenceburg and the Dearborn Trail.
Reade is one of four Greendale Middle School cross country runners who will compete at the middle school state finals in October.
