Greensburg family shares healing journey at DCMH

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Edward “Eddie” and Brenda Dwenger are lifelong residents of Greensburg. They have deep connections to the community, raising their children here, serving on many city and county boards and public offices, and are proud to call Decatur County home.

The couple has been coming to Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) for decades, delivering their children here, and Brenda is a former team member working in Admitting and the Switchboard. Three generations of the Dwenger family are under the care of Family Medicine Provider Dr. Jami Rayles at Decatur County Primary Care, providing individualized care to the whole family.

Following a fall at home, Eddie needed expert care to help him heal a deep wound. He was referred to DCMH’s Wound Care Clinic, where he received specialized care.

The location of the wound meant that stitches might not be the most effective treatment, and more conservative methods would be required for the best outcome.

Under the care of Dr. Belarmino Frogozo, Eddie’s wound healed one week at a time. The couple commended the exceptional care they received from Dr. Frogozo, feeling secure, comfortable, and pleased with Eddie’s care every step of the way. “Never once did we feel like we weren’t in good hands with Dr. Frogozo. He helped us feel informed and cared for,” shared Brenda.

Eddie, a proud veteran, appreciated the support he received from Dr. Frogozo, support that went beyond medical care. “He shook my hand and thanked me for my service. That meant a lot to me,” shared Eddie.

“Wound healing can often require the next level of expert care. Our team worked with Eddie to ensure he received the care he needed to heal,” added Dr. Frogozo.

In addition to Dr. Frogozo, Eddie and Brenda complimented the compassionate care of Charlee Hancock, RN, for her kindness, knowledge, and empathy.  “It’s nice to have medical professionals who are invested in your care,” Brenda added.

The couple is very grateful to have the support of Dr. Frogozo, Dr. Rayles, and Charlee in Eddie’s healing. Following a few weeks of Wound Care treatment, Eddie’s wound is healed, and he is doing much better.

The support of the DCMH Wound Care team ensured Eddie could heal quickly and safely, with a team of skilled professionals in his corner. For more information about the DCMH Wound Care Clinic, visit dcmh.net/wound or call 812-222-HEAL (4325).
