(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Staff members at Greensburg Schools wore pink for a good cause on Wednesday.
A ‘Pink Out Day’ encouraged teachers to wear pink and donate to the Decatur County Hospital Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Fund.
The fund helps ensure women in need can access clinical breast exams, screening mammograms, and additional diagnostic procedures, all provided at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, at no cost, based on financial eligibility.
Greensburg Elementary teacher Nicole Niese is a breast cancer survivor and organized the district-wide initiative.
"There are a lot of people that need the Pink Ribbon Fund, whether it is for a mammogram or simply transportation. I just want to make sure that everybody that is going through what I have went through gets what they need," Niese said.
Altogether, the Pink Out Day raised $657 and Niese delivered a check to the Foundation later that evening.
