(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Gus and Nancy Hillenbrand have been named as the recipients of the 2026 Robert R. Walsman Award.
The award is given to community members who have dedicated their time and donated funds to Margaret Mary Health.
Bill Hillenbrand accepted the award on behalf of his parents, Gus and Nancy.
It was presented by MMH board chairman George Junker who said Gus and Nancy had an incredible commitment to not only the hospital but the entire community.
“Oftentimes, you see something happening in the community and don’t even realize Gus and Nancy were involved in making it happen. They are truly two of the finest people I know,” Junker said.
The ceremony took place during the annual MMH golf outing which resulted in $85,000 being raised for the hospital.
The Robert R. Walsman Award honors the 101-year-old World War II veteran who was an avid golfer and one of the founders of the annual MMH golf outing.
