Hurricane Isaias interrupts some local vacations

(FT. WALTON, Fla.) – The incoming Hurricane Isaias has interrupted fall vacations for some local families.
The storm is continuing to intensify as it approaches the Gulf Coast where it's expected to make landfall as a high-end Category 2 hurricane Friday and Saturday.
The impacted areas are between Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, Alabama and it could pack wind gusts over 100 miles-per-hour, heavy rains, flooding, storm surge, tornadoes, structural damage and power outages
With several local schools on Fall Break, there are some families who have had to change their vacations.
One Osgood family flew to Fort Walton, Florida, on Sunday and enjoyed the beach for a few days prior to Thursday.

They were scheduled to fly home tonight, however, airports in the vicinity have closed and their flight was cancelled.
That family elected to leave their condo at 4:30 a.m. Thursday and are driving a rental car back to the Indianapolis airport.
“Even at 5 a.m. this morning, there were a lot of vehicles all heading in the same direction to leave the Fort Walton area,” they told The 812.
Another local family, Todd and Pam Schuler, have a vacation in Fort Walton and were going to arrive Friday.
They have decided to delay their trip for a couple of days as an evacuation order has been issued for parts of Okaloosa County.
The storm reached hurricane status late Wednesday night and has already made history.
Isaias is the first Atlantic hurricane that has formed this late in the season since 1905.
