(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A new speed enforcement tool is being deployed on I-74 in Decatur and Shelby counties.
The Indiana Department of Transportation will use speed cameras between mile markers 113 and 134 beginning on Wednesday, April 1.
Vehicle owners of cars or trucks traveling 11 miles-per-hour or more over the posted speed limit will receive a violation notice via mail.
Here are the penalties that will be issued:
First violation: zero-fine warning
Second violation: $75 civil fine
Third and subsequent violations: $150 civil fine
This INDOT program known as Safe Zones has been deployed in three other parts of the state.
It was approved during the 2023 legislative session in an effort to remind drivers to slow down in construction zones.
