INDOT provides statement on S.R. 46 pavement incident

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Transportation has released a statement following the asphalt incident on State Road 46 in Batesville on Tuesday.
Semis and passenger vehicles sustained tire damage after driving on the newly-placed pavement in the westbound lanes between Morris and Batesville.
“INDOT was notified Tuesday afternoon of vehicles driving through the work zone sustaining damage as pavement became detached from the milled surface. The cause of detachment is currently unknown,” INDOT officials stated.
Traffic has now been moved to an unaffected area of the work zone and there no ongoing issues.
INDOT said they are investigating the incident and are continuing to monitor the roadway.
