JCD sophomore’s artwork gets regional recognition

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – A Jac-Cen-Del student is getting recognition for her artistic talent. 

Michaela McDaniel submitted her artwork called "The Metamora Boat Canal” for the Congressional Art Competition. 

Rep. Erin Houchin (R-District 9) announced on Monday that McDaniel finished third overall! 

“The Ninth District is home to many talented student artists, and this competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their work on a national stage," said Rep. Erin Houchin.

A Salem High School student won the overall first place and will have their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol for the next year. 

In 2024, the wildlife photography of Carson Hughes won the competition and was displayed in the Capitol.
