(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) — The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office is commending two deputies who saved the life of a person who was choking.
Deputy Bill Carter and Sergeant Michael Watts responded to a medical emergency in the eastern part of the county on Sunday.
They immediately began performing life-saving efforts by utilizing both the Heimlich Maneuver and the LifeVac device.
“Deputies were able to successfully dislodge the obstruction and restore the victim’s ability to breathe,” the sheriff’s department said.
The LifeVac Device is a portable device used to remove an object when a person is choking. It creates suction to dislodge the object without pushing it further into the airway.
