Lawrenceburg Cross Country setting new 5K records

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Some Lawrenceburg cross country athletes have been breaking school records over the past week.
Rylynn Head beat the school’s 5K record that had stood since 2021 during a South Dearborn invitational on Saturday, September 19. The junior set a new record of 17:05.
Rylynn wasn’t finished as he ended up beating his record just days later by running 16:44 at the Great Pumpkin Invitational last Thursday.

Sophomore Coleman Hughes also broke the previous 5K record to put him #2 overall in program history.
Brendan Wurtzler, who is just a freshman, ran a 17:22 to break the previous freshman record by 28 seconds and he is now #3 all-time in program history.
“As a team, we also broke our previous top-five average record by two minutes, with our top five runners averaging 17:32 for the 5K,” said head coach Chayce Helms.
