Lawrenceburg SRO's honoring Indiana teen Hailey Buzbee

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) –  School Resource Officers in Lawrenceburg are honoring an Indiana teen while bringing awareness to students.

17-year-old Hailey Buzbee was a Hamilton Southeastern High School student who was reported missing from Fishers in early January.

She was killed and her remains were found in the Columbus, Ohio area.

Police believe she left Indiana with 39-year-old Tyler Thomas. He was arrested in connection to her disappearance and allegedly led police to her remains.

Authorities say they met each other through online gaming platforms and an encrypted messaging app called “Session.”

The Lawrenceburg Police Department’s school resource officers are wearing pink badges this week in honor of the Buzbee family.

“Not only to recognize the loss of their daughter Hailey, but also to bring awareness to the topics of child exploitation and child sextortion,” the police department said.
