(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Letts Fire Chief Matt Morrow is being recognized for his support of a employee who serves in the military.
Morrow has been honored with the Patriot Award which is given to civilians who go above-and-beyond to support those who serve the nation.
The award is given by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve which is an office within the Department of War.
Morrow was nominated by Letts firefighter Sebastyn Muckerheide who serves as a Specialist in the Indiana Army National Guard.
"It was my pleasure to nominated Matthew Morrow for this award. He has been nothing of supportive of my service, and has gone to great lengths for me to continue to make my transition between work and service as smooth as possible," Muckerheide said.
He added, "His continued support of my service never makes me feel like my duties are a burden to him or the organization. I've truly never seen this much support from previous employers."
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
