(METAMORA, Ind.) – A Laurel man was killed after a single-vehicle crash in Metamora on Friday morning.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 52 and State Road 229.
Franklin County deputies say 34-year-old Justin Hokey was traveling on U.S. 52 when his vehicle left the roadway after encountering icy conditions.
“The vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, rotated, and struck a utility pole before coming to rest on its passenger side,” said Franklin County Major Gregory Mehlbauer.
Hokey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies added that he was not wearing a seatbelt and the crash remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department and Letts EMS.
