Man killed during police standoff in Fayette County

(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – A man was killed during a police standoff in Fayette County on Sunday night.
Deputies were called to a home on County Road 200 East for a report of domestic disturbance involving shots fired.
Police surrounded the home and attempted to get three individuals to exit the house safely, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
71-year-old Michael Sims allegedly pointed a gun at someone inside the home and then toward law enforcement.
A deputy fired his service weapon and struck Sims who was later pronounced dead.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office has requested the Indiana State Police to conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
Nobody else was hurt during the incident.
