Man killed during police standoff in Fayette County

(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – A man was killed during a police standoff in Fayette County on Sunday night.

Deputies were called to a home on County Road 200 East for a report of domestic disturbance involving shots fired.

Police surrounded the home and attempted to get three individuals to exit the house safely, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

71-year-old Michael Sims allegedly pointed a gun at someone inside the home and then toward law enforcement.

A deputy fired his service weapon and struck Sims who was later pronounced dead.
