Masters of Disaster to volunteer in West Harrison Saturday

(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – A nonprofit that assists victims of natural disasters will return to the West Harrison area on Saturday. 

Masters of Disaster responds when tornadoes, floods, hurricanes or other emergencies occur within a 6-hour radius of Cincinnati. 

The organization not only provides clean-up services but also helps the victims with mental and spiritual needs. 

The group first arrived in Drewersburg area after a tornado destroyed two homes and caused damage to multiple other properties on June 17. 

They assisted the community with debris cleanup for two days. 

The nonprofit also provides support during non-emergency times through their Second Saturday Simple Serve initiative. 

Each month, the group helps someone who is in need of home repairs. They helped an 83-year-old widow who lives alone last month. 

For their July initiative, they are returning to the West Harrison area to assist multiple property owners. 

“Instead of serving one property, we’ll be tackling three neighboring homes together. It’s more than yard work and cleanup. It’s a chance to remind people they aren’t alone,” said MOD founder Darin Kroger.

He added that the Simple Serve initiative is a great way to get involved for people who want to learn more about the organization. 

They will meet at 3251 Johnson Fork Road at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.
