McCabe's in Lawrenceburg recognized for 50 years of business

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The City of Lawrenceburg is recognizing a longtime florist and garden center.

Mike McCabe grew up on a farm in Moores Hill and a teacher once suggested that he consider a career in horticulture. 

He attended Purdue and later worked at Krueger Maddux in Sunman before taking a chance and opening his own business. 

McCabes Greenhouse and Floral began in 1975 and Mike purchased their 1066 West Eads Parkway location in 1978. 

The business has expanded over the years to also include a large home decor gift shop, worldwide deliveries and more. 

McCabe’s also offers daily floral delivery to local funeral homes and hospitals in the area. 

Mike says the successful growth of the business was made possible by his wife and children, Scott and Beth. 

“While the business has expanded into many different areas, Mike’s love has been and always will be the growing aspect. Mike believes in growing the best quality flowers, starting with the best soil, plants, fertilizer and care,” Mayor Kelly Mollaun stated. 

McCabe’s Greenhouse and Floral was honored for 50 years of business during the City’s America 250 Celebration last weekend.

The business thanked current and past employees, along with the community, for supporting them over the past half-century. 

Mike added that when you do what you love, there is no need to retire!
