Milan 1954 team member passes away

(FRANKLIN, Ind.) – A key part on the Milan 1954 state champion basketball team has passed away.
Gene White passed away at the age of 90 this past weekend at his home in Franklin.
He earned numerous honors including All-State his senior year before he played basketball and baseball at Franklin College.
After serving in the Army, White had a 38-year teaching career at Milan, Batesville and Franklin High Schools.
He also served as a high school basketball coach for several years.
White was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame with the Milan 1954 State Championship team in 2004, and as an individual in 2024.
He was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash from the state of Indiana twice during his lifetime.
His family announced that memorials can be made to the Milan 1954 Museum.
