Millhousen bartender donates $12K to cancer patient

(MILLHOUSEN, Ind.) – A weekly initiative by a part-time bartender at Stones Restaurant has resulted in a big donation to a cancer patient.
Jessie Hamilton works full-time for Schutte Excavating and bartends at the Millhousen restaurant on Thursdays.
Five years ago, her sister was battling cancer and Jessie decided to donate all of her Thursday tips to her sister.
It’s now an October tradition every year and each dollar Jessie gets at Stone’s goes toward a cancer patient.
“The hardest part has been selecting the person for this every year as I know cancer impacts a lot of families locally,” Jessie admits.
The South Decatur graduate knew exactly who to support this year.
Lisa Huff has served as the South Decatur softball coach for more than 25 years and is currently battling cancer.
“We grew up with her through our high school years. She coached me in basketball, softball and in life. I can’t imagine the amount of ladies she has mentored over the years,” Jessie said.
Jessie added, “Now it's my turn to pay her back.”
She bartended every Thursday last month and the tips she made totaled $12,700!
Every dollar she made is being donated to Lisa Huff.
