Millhousen church festival back for second straight year

(MILLHOUSEN, Ind.) – Immaculate Conception in Millhousen will host their church festival on Saturday. 

Last year marked the first festival the church had held since 1968 and it resulted in $20,000 being raised for maintenance projects at the school. 

Funds this year will go toward exterior repairs to the church that was built in 1869.

The festival will take place beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26. 

It will feature fried chicken, pulled pork, mock turtle soup, games, raffles, and pull tabs.

Music will be performed by The Stier Brothers from 4-7 p.m. as well as Glorious Day from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Renewing the festival

The festival was cancelled in 1968 because the church was disrepair and condemned. 

Although repairs were made to the church, the festival never returned for more than a half century.

Joe and Donna Johannigman own Stone’s Restaurant and came up with the idea of bringing the festival back to life in 2026.

“We wanted to bring a little light back into the community. When we brought this up to the parish council, there was a lot of support to bring it back,” Joe said. 

It has now become an annual tradition again and is held at 2081 East County Road 820 South in Greensburg.
